What’s it about? Adelice, a teen from a modest suburb of a dystopic stepford-wives type society, has spent her entire life trying to hide her skills. In her world, Spinsters weave the fabric of time and physical elements to create a utopic society where no one suffers and no one starves. But to become a Spinster means giving up your family forever, and possibly much worse. When her parents realized at an early age that she can manipulate the ‘weave’ of the world around her, they train her to hide her skills. Unfortunately she is found out, and brought to the Coventry where all Spinsters live.

A rousing love triangle ensues, as well as the realization that Spinsters not only keep people fed and control the weather, but end lives and wipe out the memories of the public to keep the peace. Crewel will keep you reading until the fast-paced end!

Should you buy it? Yes! I would recommend this book for adult readers and a bit older YA readers (16+). Some of the themes are a bit more mature, which is great, but I’d wait a few years to let your 12 year old read it. Unless that 12 year old was like me, and then they’ll be fine. Maybe read it yourself first, or read it with her! I think that’s a wonderful idea.

Overall, it’s beautifully written and an exciting read! I can’t wait for the next book!
