Book Review – Altered, by Gennifer Albin

Altered

What’s it about? Altered is the sequel to Crewel, a dizzying and unique story. Adelice, a teen from a modest suburb of a utopic stepford-wives type society, has spent her entire life trying to hide her skills. In her world, Spinsters weave the fabric of time and physical elements to create a place where no one suffers and no one starves. But to become a Spinster means giving up your family forever, and possibly much worse. When her parents realized at an early age that she could manipulate the ‘weave’ of the world around her, they trained her to hide her skills.

Found out, Adelice is ripped from her family and thrown into the intrigue and drama of a cruel Coventry where she learns that Spinsters do more than just make the weather – they murder people, erase memories and control everything. In this second book, Adelice is back, fighting the Coventry and bending the matter of the universe to her will.

Should you read it? Yes! Start with book one, Crewel. For fans of Anna Carey’s Eve Trilogy, this is a great next step.
