Book Review – Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

What’s it about? Jacob’s Grandfather has always been a little odd – telling strange stories about a life lived in an orphanage full of children with superpowers during World War  II. But what if everything Jacob’s grandfather said was true? After a horrible incident, Jacob sets off to discover the truth behind his grandfather’s old box of photographs and tall tales. Instead of a logical explanation, Jacob finds everything  that isn’t supposed to exist.

Should you read it? Mixing photography and detailed descriptions of Jacob’s life, this fictional (though with the photographs, seemingly real) novel is a new twist on YA literature. This is a great boy-perspective book, mixing a coming of age adventure with fairy tales. Readers who love in-depth details (fans of Baggott, Stiefvater) will really love it.
